Position Summary
The Patient Care Representative (PCR) plays a vital role in coordinating the seamless scheduling of emergency and non-emergency patient transportation. Working under the direction of the Patient Care Supervisor, the PCR serves as the primary point of contact for transport requests from contracted medical facilities, private patients, and insurance providers — ensuring every interaction is handled with accuracy, professionalism, and care.
Primary Responsibilities
Transportation Coordination
- Coordinate and schedule ambulance transportation for contracted medical facilities, private patients, and insurance companies
- Manage transport requests across pre-hospital, post-hospital, and inter-facility settings
- Field all incoming transport requests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring accurate collection of patient demographics, billing information, and authorizations
Customer & Stakeholder Relations
- Maintain courteous, professional, and cooperative relationships with management, staff, physicians, patients, family members, guarantors, third-party representatives, and the general public
- Serve as a point of contact for incoming inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to transport operations or missing items
- Generate incident reports for complaints or operational issues and forward to the appropriate supervisor promptly
Reporting & Documentation
- Accurately document all scheduling activity, patient information, and billing details in accordance with company standards
- Provide the Patient Care Supervisor with a summary of personal productivity on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as requested
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one (1) year of patient care or customer service experience
- Familiarity with health insurance verification, prior authorizations, and medical terminology preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient documentation and data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy
Work Environment
This is an office-based position performed under standard working conditions. The role involves a high level of desk work and computer use in a professional indoor environment.
