Patient Service Representative

Langhorne, PA

Pay: $21.00 per hour

About the Role:

The Patient Service Representative supports order processing and patient account management within a healthcare setting. This role involves verifying insurance coverage, obtaining prior authorizations, and ensuring accurate documentation for medical orders. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, communicates professionally, and manages multiple accounts efficiently to ensure smooth workflow from order intake through delivery readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process medical work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Obtain, review, and coordinate required documentation such as prescriptions, physician notes, and supporting records.
  • Verify patient insurance benefits, confirm coverage criteria, and secure prior authorizations or pre-certifications as needed.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy of patient account information, including HCPCS and ICD-10 coding, to support proper processing and reimbursement.
  • Communicate with patients regarding insurance coverage, financial responsibilities, and next steps.
  • Coordinate with physician offices, practitioners, and internal staff to obtain missing information and ensure orders are ready for delivery.
  • Maintain knowledge of payer-specific rules, documentation requirements, and authorization procedures.
  • Ensure orders are properly documented and meet company and insurance requirements before delivery.
  • Document account activity clearly, accurately, and professionally.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, referral sources, and coworkers.
  • Support an efficient workflow from order intake through delivery readiness.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
  • Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel effectively.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, physician offices, insurance representatives, and coworkers.
  • Support limited travel to the nearest office location as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience in insurance verification, prior authorizations, medical documentation, or patient service in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical coding (HCPCS, ICD-10) is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, use good judgment, and make sound decisions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with insurance verification, prior authorizations, medical documentation, or patient service
