Payroll Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant / Payroll Specialist to own the full payroll function from start to finish. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the accounting and compliance side of payroll and understands that payroll extends far beyond issuing employee pay.

This position requires a professional who can manage payroll operations while also handling tax reporting, reconciliations, audits, journal entries, and month-end responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  
• Process full-cycle payroll accurately and timely for hourly and salaried employees
• 
  
• Manage payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• 
  
• Prepare and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts
• 
  
• Complete payroll account reconciliations and month-end reporting
• 
  
• Handle quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting, including W-2 processing
• 
  
• Support internal and external payroll audits
• 
  
• Review and maintain payroll deductions, garnishments, benefits, and accruals
• 
  
• Prepare payroll journal entries and assist with month-end close activities
• 
  
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and tax-related issues
• 
  
• Partner with Accounting and Finance on payroll reporting and compliance initiatives
• 
  

Qualifications

• 
  
• 3+ years of payroll experience with strong exposure to accounting functions
• 
  
• Experience handling payroll taxes, audits, reconciliations, and reporting
• 
  
• Understanding of payroll-related journal entries and general ledger activity
• 
  
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• 
  
• Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
• 
  
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• 
  
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
•
