Description

  • Provides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, housekeeping tasks, and other related support services essential to the consumer's health.
  • Observe, record, and report all changes to the supervisor. All PCAs must demonstratecompetence in performing the necessary skills and only perform those skills on the plan of care.

Starting Pay: $17.95 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs home management tasks, including housekeeping, laundry, shopping, and errands.

  2. Prepares and serves simple modified diets according to instructions and assists with feeding as

necessary.

  1. Assists with bathing, dressing, and grooming.

  2. Assists with toileting, including the use of a bedpan, commode, or toilet.

  3. Assists with transfers and ambulation, including using a cane, a walker, and a wheelchair.

  4. Assists with medication (medication reminders only) as specified on the plan of care.

  5. Provides routine skin care. May assist self-directing consumers in applying NON-prescription

topical medications to the skin surface.

  1. Measures and records vital signs.

  2. Collects routine specimens when ordered.

  3. Monitors the consumer to ensure compliance with medications.

  4. Arranges for transportation and accompany the consumer on appointments.

  5. Obtains consumer's weight.

  6. Reports changes in consumer status per MBI basic policies

  7. Assist self-directing consumers in performing maintenance exercise programs.

  8. Cares for the male external catheter. Assists with the emptying of the indwelling catheter care

bag.

  1. Assists the self-directing consumer with the use of oxygen equipment.

  2. Assists a self-directing consumer with the changing of a urinary diversion appliance or dressing

when the ostomy is mature and stable

  1. Completes all other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
