Job Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Dental Officer (CDO), the Pediatric Dentist (PD) of Omni Family Health (Omni) provides patient care to a growing network of state-of-the-art health centers serving California's Central Valley. As a member of the organization's Dental Department, the PD is responsible for diagnosing and treating dental conditions specific to infants, children, and teenagers, provides preventative care, oral health education, and delivers optimal therapeutic services.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for providing high-quality dental care and preventative services for infants, children, and adolescents, including diagnosis and treatment of teeth, gums, and mouth.
  • Cleans, restores, extracts, and replaces teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical equipment.
  • Treats soft and hard tissue diseases of the oral cavity; performs surgery on oral tissues when necessary; renders prosthetic treatment when approved and indicated; designs and places orthodontic devices to correct minor malocclusion of teeth and renders any and all dental services to restore the oral health of the patient.
  • Provides preventive dental services to patient, such as applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth and provides education in oral health and dental hygiene.
  • Conducts, develops, and confirms individualized in-house pediatric diagnoses and care plans based on dental conditions.
  • Reviews patients' medical history, discusses their symptoms, prescribes the treatment required, provides risks and alternatives, as well as addresses concerns to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Refers patients when necessary, particularly when treatment options are unavailable within the clinic or beyond the practitioner's or community health centers scope (e.g., general anesthesia).
  • Coordinates the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by the department, company, state, and federal agencies.
  • Completes and submits daily billing to ensure accurate coding and charges for all services rendered.
  • Participates in audits, peer reviews, staff evaluations, patient satisfaction surveys, protocol development, meetings, and in-service training sessions.
  • Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Collaborates with the dental team, including dental assistants, Front Office Clerks (FOC), and other staff members, to ensure exceptional patient care and effective treatment coordination.
  • Responsible to meet productivity goals, minimize patient rescheduling, and works closely with dental management to enhance efficiency and patient flow.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
  • Maintains up-to-date credentialing, licensure, and continuing education requirements to meet professional standards.
  • Serves as a preceptor to dental and paraprofessional students placed with Omni Family Health, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • May be asked to work with clinical 3rd and 4th year dental programs as an adjunct faculty. Participation may include overseeing nitrous sedation and pediatric dentistry patient care.
  • Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
  • Ensures the department provides cohesive support to the mission, vision, and core values while delivering superior customer service.
  • Works closely with all corporate branches, divisions, and/or departments in accordance with Omni's policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and/or responsibilities as the PD may be assigned from time to time.
  • Must be able to travel and work at various Omni clinic locations.

Additional Duties:

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Compliance: Responsible for maintaining abreast of and in compliance with all HIPAA regulations and requirements.
  • Compliance: Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI): Participates as required in QA/QI activities and contributes towards the overall quality improvement initiatives of the organization.
  • Information Technology (IT): May be required to learn and use the electronic health record and its components as required by the job functions and highlighted in the policies and procedures. These components include NextGen, Practice Management System (PMS), Quality Systems Inc. (QSI), and other electronic features as they are developed and implemented, as applicable to work environment.
  • Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH): All employees will participate in PCMH at Omni Family Health.
  • Audits: Contributes to required Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Operational Site Visit (OSV), The Joint Commission (JC), and other audit events.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

  • Doctorate Degree in Dental Medicine (DMD) or Dental Surgery (DDS).
  • Completion of a post-doctoral residency program in Pediatric Dentistry approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Licensed with the California State Dental Board.
  • Current and valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License.
  • Current and valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Pediatric Dentist preferred.
