Nurse Practitioner (Family / Pediatrics)
Location: South Padre Island Area, TX (Coastal Texas)
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (No regular weekends)
On-Call: Low rotation (1 weekend every 5 weeks)

Job Overview
We are seeking an autonomous and skilled Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to handle Pediatric and Family care to oversee patient care in our outpatient clinic setting near beautiful Corpus Christi and South Padre Island, TX. This is a lower-volume role perfect for a provider who values independence and a strong work-life balance. You will serve as the sole provider on shift, managing care plans for a diverse patient base with a focus on pediatrics and family services. Additionally, you will handle intake assessments for youth mental health, substance abuse, and juvenile detention facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sole Provider Autonomy: Act as the primary, independent clinical decision-maker on shift, collaborating with the Medical Director as needed.
  • Specialized Admissions & Assessments: Evaluate and review pediatric patients for admissions into mental health facilities, substance abuse centers, and juvenile detention centers.
  • Care Plan Management: Formulate, implement, and track comprehensive long-term treatment plans while coordinating community resources to support families.
  • Clinical Care & Diagnosis: Obtain health histories, perform physical exams, diagnose disease states, and prescribe medications in compliance with Texas state laws.
  • Clinical Support: Maintain a willingness to step in and perform basic hands-on duties (such as administering shots or drawing blood) when necessary to support the clinic flow.
  • Documentation & Consultation: Maintain timely, clear EMR documentation and communicate effectively with families, interdisciplinary teams, and community agencies.
  • Telehealth: Utilize telehealth platforms to treat and consult with patients as appropriate.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Licensure: Valid, active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license is required.
  • Enrollment: Must already be actively registered and credentialed with Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Education: Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an NP in a clinic, practice, or urgent care environment.
  • Prescriptive Authority: Active Federal DEA and Texas Controlled Substances Act (CDS) registration.
  • Clinical Skills: Competency in basic clinical procedures (blood draws, injections) and strong EMR navigation skills.

Preferred Attributes
  • Pediatric Expertise: Strong, verifiable background in pediatric primary care.
  • Mental Health Experience: Prior experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, or substance abuse management is highly preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent verbal communication, a compassionate bedside manner, and a high level of professional initiative.
