Pension Benefits Specialist

Work Arrangement: Remote, with in-office attendance as needed.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for calculating pension and related benefits while ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and proper processing of member information and payments.

Key Responsibilities

• Calculate and process complex retirement, survivor, and account adjustment benefits.
• Review and verify member data, financial transactions, and reporting information.
• Apply applicable ASRS statutes and IRS regulations to benefit payouts and reporting.
• Research discrepancies and resolve issues involving member accounts and financial records.
• Communicate with employers to verify documentation and address questions or missing information.
• Use internal computer systems to retrieve data and process payments, including transactions that fall outside standard automated processes.
• Maintain accurate records while managing a high volume of deadline-sensitive work.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience working with relational databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret financial information and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to manage detailed, high-volume work with accuracy.
• Knowledge of ASRS statutes, IRS regulations, and automated disbursement systems preferred.
• Some college preferred, but not required.
