Location/Division Specific Information

This position is based at our Detroit, Michigan manufacturing facility and supports the production of peptone products used by customers across life sciences and related industries. You will work as part of a manufacturing team committed to safety, quality, cGMP compliance, and reliable production.

How Will You Make an Impact?

As a Peptone Manufacturing Operator, you will play an important role in producing high-quality products by safely operating manufacturing equipment and following approved procedures and batch documentation. Your work will help ensure products are manufactured consistently, safely, and in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.

A Day in the Life

• Operate manufacturing and processing equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), batch records, cGMP requirements, and established safety procedures.
• Prepare, load, transfer, and process raw materials while monitoring equipment and process parameters to ensure production requirements and quality standards are met.
• Perform equipment cleaning and sanitization, complete production documentation accurately, conduct routine equipment checks, and maintain a clean and organized manufacturing environment.
• Assist with material movement, product handling, packaging, and other production activities as required.
• Identify and communicate equipment, safety, quality, or process concerns to the appropriate team members and support troubleshooting activities.
• Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and other departments to meet production schedules and operational goals.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

Required: No previous work experience required.

Preferred: Previous work experience in manufacturing, operations, production, laboratory environments, or a related field.

Preferred: Experience working in a cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Ability to understand and follow written procedures, SOPs, batch records, safety requirements, and verbal instructions while maintaining accurate documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to learn the operation of manufacturing and processing equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, reliability, and cGMP practices with effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify process or equipment abnormalities and promptly communicate concerns to supervision or appropriate support personnel.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Willingness and ability to learn new processes, equipment, and manufacturing procedures.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This position requires working in an active manufacturing environment and may involve prolonged periods of standing and walking as well as bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and handling production materials. The employee must be able to safely lift and move materials weighing up to approximately 40-50 pounds, depending on the specific task and applicable site requirements.

The manufacturing environment may include exposure to noise, dust, strong odors, cleaning and sanitizing agents, and variations in temperature. Employees are required to follow all site safety procedures and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, safety footwear, lab coats, gowns, and other required protective equipment.

The position may require flexibility to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, or adjusted schedules based on production needs.
