Job Summary
Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting or monitoring a wide range of clinical laboratory test procedures. The Medical Laboratory Technician utilizes a variety of equipment and materials to provide physicians with the data for the study diagnosis and treatment of patients and provides services in Microbiology, Serology, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, Hematology, and Chemistry.
This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
This position reports to the Chemistry Supervisor and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Does this position require Patient Care? No
Essential Functions
Must be able to effectively interact appropriately to an individual's intellectual level and physical ability for adult and geriatric patients.
Qualifications
Education Associate''s Degree Medical Laboratory Technology required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Medical Laboratory Technician [MLT(ASCP)] - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) required Experience Six (6) months to one (1) year experience as an MLT 0-1 year preferred and Recent Blood Banking experience (within the previous 3 years) required if employee will be scheduled to work in the Blood Bank 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Associate's degree and MLT (CLT) (ASCP) or equivalent registration or registry eligibility required. - If the employee does not meet registration requirements within 1 year of employment, the position will be forfeited. - Relevant education transcripts required.
