    Job Summary

    The Advanced Clinical Dietitian provides comprehensive medical nutrition care to patients while supporting clinical and departmental initiatives within Clinical Nutrition. This role uses clinical expertise to assess patients’ nutritional needs, develop individualized nutrition care plans, provide nutrition education, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to promote high-quality patient outcomes.

    Essential Functions
    -Provides advanced clinical nutrition care, which may include supporting specialty or complex patient populations, serving as a nutrition resource for clinical care teams, mentoring and supporting new staff, and contributing to the evaluation of new products, services, and clinical practices.
    -Collaborates with Clinical Nutrition leadership on program development and initiatives that enhance patient care, streamline processes, improve efficiency, and support departmental goals.
    -Provides guidance, education, and mentorship to dietetic interns and students, including planning, facilitating, supervising, and evaluating educational experiences.
    -Completes comprehensive nutrition assessments using clinical data, medical history, physician orders, interdisciplinary care plans, and other relevant information to identify nutritional needs and develop individualized nutrition care plans.
    -Implements and monitors nutrition interventions that support patients’ clinical, nutritional, physical, and psychosocial needs across a range of ages and conditions.
    -Maintains timely and accurate documentation of nutrition assessments, recommendations, care plans, follow-up, diet consultations, discharge planning, and other nutrition-related clinical activities.
    -Educates and counsels patients and families regarding therapeutic diets, nutrition recommendations, and strategies to support ongoing nutritional health. Develops and utilizes educational materials to enhance patient understanding and engagement.
    -Collaborates with food service and other members of the care team to ensure meals, oral nutrition supplements, and nutrition support are provided appropriately and align with individualized nutrition plans.
    -Reviews patient menu selections and provides guidance to support adherence to prescribed or modified diets.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Dietetics or a related field required
    • Master’s Degree in Dietetics or a related field preferred
    • Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree: No

    Licenses and Credentials

    • Massachusetts Dietitian and Nutritionist License required
    • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required
    • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential preferred

    Experience

    • Clinical Dietitian experience working with multiple patient populations preferred
    • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams
    • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Ability to educate, guide, and motivate patients and families across a variety of age groups and clinical needs
    • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple needs, and adapt in a dynamic clinical environment
    • Spanish language proficiency is preferred. This position provides an opportunity to support a growing Spanish-speaking patient population and help ensure patients and families receive accessible, culturally responsive nutrition education and care.
