Technologists are responsible to perform Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT examinations, with protocols as outlined by the Radiologist and Cardiologist. Scope of practice in nuclear medicine and PET/CT technology includes, but not limited to, the following areas and responsibilities: operation of nuclear medicine and CT instrumentation; performance of diagnostic procedures, patient care, quality control, handling of radiopharmaceuticals, usage of adjunctive medications, in vitro diagnostic testing, radionuclide therapy, and radiation safety. Other duties include, but are not limited to, clerical, scheduling, transporting, ordering supplies, inventory, cleaning, and anything deemed necessary by the medical imaging management team. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift. Technologist is responsible for assisting in the primary mission of the medical imaging department by ensuring that proper diagnostic information is provided through the production of high-quality PET/CT scans as well as individual PET procedures and diagnostic CT procedures.
