The mission of the Louisiana Board of Drug and Device Distributors is to safeguard life and health and to promote public welfare of all citizens by the licensing and regulation of entities engaging in the distribution of legend drugs or legend devices within and into the state of Louisiana.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Pharmacist-Compliance Officer protects Louisianas prescription drug and device supply chain through inspections, investigations, compliance guidance, and enforcement support. The position requires strong pharmaceutical and regulatory knowledge, investigative skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication. This unique opportunity allows a pharmacist to move beyond traditional practice and directly impact statewide public health, regulatory policy, and patient safety while working with the Board and state and federal partners. The ideal candidate must be willing to undertake periodic overnight travel within the state of Louisiana.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice pharmacy plus three years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Inspections & Investigations: Conduct pre-licensing, annual, follow-up, complaint, and unlicensed-facility inspections and investigations
  • Compliance Guidance & Training: Evaluate regulated facilities and provide guidance regarding licensing, security, storage,

record keeping, policies, and regulatory compliance.

  • SOPs & Reporting: Prepare reports, track compliance trends, and maintain inspection and enforcement procedures.
  • Disciplinary Actions: Investigate violations, develop evidence, support enforcement proceedings, and coordinate with regulatory and law-enforcement agencies.
  • Regulatory Interpretation: Review records and apply Board statutes, rules, policies, and requirements.
  • Board & Executive Support: Assist the Executive Director and Board with compliance programs, policy development, meetings, and program objectives.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational - up to 24 months

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
