Submit your application for the opportunity below: Pharmacy Resident Job Summary and Qualifications The Pharmacy practice resident fulfills the requirements of the PGY-1 Residency Program at HCA Florida West Hospital. This position provides clinical services, staffing services, on-call services, and drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists as a primary responsibility. The pharmacy resident completes a longitudinal research project leading to the development of a manuscript for publication. The resident works on a number of additional projects, along with the primary longitudinal project, that lead to formal presentations at the regional residency conference and national pharmacy associations meetings. The Resident assists with the education of pharmacy students from colleges of pharmacy.Provide clinical pharmacy services, promoting safe and rational use of medications to improve patient outcomesCoordinate the delivery of clinical pharmaceutical care to assigned areasProvide pharmaceutical care through appropriate, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy protocol/policiesMaintain strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispense medications accordinglyConsult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors, and complaintsDetermine and consult on possible drug interactionsAssist in the supervision and training of pharmacy technician personnelParticipate in drug utilization reviewAssist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory, and ordering of pharmaceuticalsMonitor, record, and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systemsUtilize knowledge of age specific needs of patients in performance of duties and responsibilitiesFollow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as requiredParticipate in educational activities such as pharmacy student case conferences, student journal clubs, and other student development projects.
