Job Summary and Qualifications

* This is a PRN position, hours will vary, but you need to be able to work hours between 10am - 11pm.  Days will vary and will include weekends * 

As a Pharmacy Tech Extern and under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and the direction of the pharmacists, you will assist in the functions of the department by procuring, preparing, and distributing pharmaceuticals according to standard policies and procedures governing pharmacy practice.

What You Will Do In This Role:

  • Accurately prepares and labels medications for final check and dispensing by the pharmacist
  • Promptly respond to requests and customer needs
  • Delivers medications and provides other distributional services and quality monitoring for patient care and ancillary areas
  • Generates computer reports/patient records and maintain paper flow
  • Actively participates in the quality improvement activities of the department
  • Performs activities related to medication and supply purchasing, inventory control, and distribution according to approved polices and procedures 
  • Contributes to an efficient, productive workflow within the pharmacy
  • Participates in process improvement teams when feasible or provides input and makes suggestions for improvement in cost effective delivery of services
  • Assists in preparing outpatient prescriptions as needed but may not affix prescription label to container
  • Demonstrates understanding of HCA's and Patients First safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

  • Active registration with the TX State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee
  • High School Graduate / GED
