The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting pharmacy operations within a fast-paced Long-Term Care, Retail, and/orSpecialty pharmacy environment. This position is responsible for processing prescriptions, coordinating medication deliveries, managing insurance and billing tasks, maintaining inventory, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all pharmacy regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Process prescriptions, insurance information, and customer records accurately.
Perform data entry, prescription typing, and medication order preparation.
Schedule patient refills and coordinate prescription deliveries.
Conduct insurance eligibility verification and resolve billing discrepancies.
Process and post account payments.
Fill, package, and prepare medications for pharmacist verification.
Assist with inventory management, medication reordering, and stock organization.
Organize delivery schedules and maintain delivery staging areas.
Respond to customer inquiries in person and over the phone.
Maintain prescription records and perform clerical and administrative duties as needed.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and pharmacy policies regarding patient confidentiality.
Support pharmacy operations to meet established quality, productivity, and service standards.
An active California Pharmacy Technician License is required.
Minimum of 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience or comparable healthcare/pharmacy experience.
Experience in Long-Term Care, Retail, and/or Specialty pharmacy settings preferred.
Strong knowledge of prescription terminology, medications, and pharmacy procedures.
Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and customer service abilities.
Proficient typing and data entry skills.
Ability to calculate dosage quantities and days' supply accurately.
Ability to identify commonly used generic medications, routes of administration, and prescription abbreviations.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
