Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist (Patient Services Representative II) represents the face of the organization for patients visiting for routine testing or important health decisions. This role is responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established procedures and safety standards.
The position requires direct patient interaction and focuses on building trust and confidence with patients while explaining procedures and performing blood collection safely, accurately, and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established practices and procedures.
Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.
Ensure specimen tubes are labeled correctly in the presence of the patient.
Maintain required records and documentation according to laboratory procedures.
Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
Maintain a safe and professional environment for patients and staff.
Demonstrate leadership behaviors while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Required Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Keyboard and data entry experience required.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Medical assistant or paramedic training.
Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment.
Customer service experience in retail or service environments.
Phlebotomy certification (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
