Job Title: Phlebotomist
Functional Group: Phlebotomy/Patient Service
Location: Patchougue, NY
Duration: 4 months (Extendable or contract to hire)
Schedule: Mon,Wed,Thu (8:30am - 5:30pm), Tue (8:30am - 2pm), Sat (8am - 1pm) w/rotating Fri (8am - 2pm); 40 hrs a week
Pay Rate: $20-23/hr
Need a experienced Phlebotomist (Bilingual- Spanish Preferred) skilled in venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles, blood collection, and specimen processing. Proficient in specimen labeling, centrifugation, separation, freezing, storage, and packaging for transportation while maintaining specimen integrity. Experienced in verifying physician orders, matching laboratory requisitions, updating patient information, and following established collection protocols. Knowledgeable in OSHA and DEP regulations, infection control, and proper PPE usage. Demonstrates strong attention to detail, patient communication, and commitment to accuracy, safety, and quality in laboratory operations.'
Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures
Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required
Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
Fully understand all of the physicians' orders
Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
Checks all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct
Package specimens for transport
