Job Summary and Qualifications The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs collections of blood samples and specimens efficiently and appropriately f ollowing hospital and department standards and policies. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the Phlebotomist may also performs routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses and quality control. What you will do in this role: You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods. You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger stick s , heel sticks or venipuncture s and collect other specimens as required. You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer. You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments. You will assist with clerical duties by answer ing telephone calls. What Qualifications Will You Need: Graduate of Phlebotomy Course/Program required . Phlebotomy certification highly preferred, but can obtain once hired. One year of experience needed highly preferred. MINIMUM 8-10 sticks per hour. Must have open availability for weekends for PRN. Hospital experience is highly preferred. Looking for trainable candidates with good experience and the ability to work as a team. Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.
