Picture your first week at Roboptic: you badge into a spotless production floor inside a brand-new greenfield facility in Hutto, Texas. After suiting up and observing ESD and cleanroom protocols, you take your station. You load an optical transceiver module, confirm your work instructions and SOPs, and bring the test bench online. An optical power meter confirms levels, the OSA sweep begins, and a BERT sequence validates performance. You log results in the test software/MES, flag a marginal unit, and collaborate with a Test Engineer to troubleshoot. Before break, you clean and inspect fiber connectors under a scope, tidy your area to 5S standards, and help a new teammate learn the process. It’s hands-on, precise, and it matters.
About the Client
Roboptic is a Taiwanese-founded robotics and optical systems company building a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Hutto, TX to produce high-speed optical transceivers. HR on Demand is partnering with Roboptic to hire for several production and engineering roles.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and operate optical test stations in accordance with detailed work instructions and SOPs.
- Run functional and performance tests using optical power meters, optical spectrum analyzers (OSAs), and bit error rate testers (BERT).
- Clean, inspect, and handle fiber connectors and optical components, including fiber scope inspection.
- Record data accurately in test software/MES; identify and escalate failing units.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and engage Test Engineers for complex issues.
- Support equipment checks and calibration and maintain an organized, 5S-compliant work area.
- Adhere to ESD, cleanroom, and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist with onboarding and training new technicians as production ramps.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years in electronics or optical testing, assembly, or manufacturing.
- Comfort following detailed work instructions and using basic computer software.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and keen attention to detail for small, delicate parts.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Fully onsite role; willingness to support shift work or overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with optical transceivers, fiber optics, or telecom/datacom products.
- Fiber optic certification (e.g., FOA CFOT) or IPC-A-610 training.
- Background in a cleanroom or ESD-controlled environment.
- Associate degree or technical certificate in electronics or a related field.
