    Job Summary:

    The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is seeking a Physical Plant Supervisor 2 will work under the direction of the Physical Plant Supervisor 3. This position will be responsible for performing maintenance repairs, overseeing new construction projects, implementing a preventative maintenance program at ADJC facilities. The position is responsible for, but not limited to, training and evaluating all subordinate staff and youth work crews; creating work schedules and assigning tasks to subordinate team members; maintaining records of materials used; tracking tools and equipment; monitoring project budgets and hours expended on jobs; ensuring completed projects meet specifications and are code compliant; responding to emergency maintenance situations; and exercising discretion and good judgment when making decisions that impact the agency.

    Job Duties:

    Performs electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, masonry, and heating/cooling maintenance repairs of ADJC buildings
    Supervises, instructs, evaluates, and assigns work tasks for subordinate Building Maintenance Specialist and youth work crews
    Maintain records of materials used and hours expended on jobs/projects
    Works with vendors, monitors project budgets, and adheres to all established procurement protocols
    Maintain inventory/accountability for all tools, and inspects equipment to ensure proper working order
    Reviews maintenance inspection logs and makes decisions related to repairs and replacements
    Inspects work areas for safety concerns/hazards, and ensures all completed projects are code compliant
    Responds to emergency maintenance situations and exercises discretion and good judgment when making recommendations that could impact the agency
    Completes and attends all training and meeting as required/scheduled
    Perform other duties as assigned

    Selective Preference(s):

    The ideal candidate will possess four 4 or more years of professional experience providing building maintenance in a correctional environment, to include landscaping, grounds keeping, or remodeling, in a supervisory capacity. Certifications/training in carpentry, plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, or grounds keeping preferred.

    Three or more years operating experience of various heavy equipment; Backhoes, Loaders, Skidsteer, Road Grader, Water Truck, Dump Truck, Man Lifts, Landscape Loader etc.

    Bilingual applicants preferred.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    Pest management/Weed Control certification required.

    This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function on the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license records checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked or suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.010).

    Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening, assessments and pre- employment physical examination.
