Physical Therapy Assistant Responsibilities
- Administer physical therapy treatments designed to relieve pain, improve or restore function, and promote healing.
- Provide skilled physical therapy services and interventions in accordance with physician orders and under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Respond to requests for physical therapy services by communicating relevant information and making referrals to the Physical Therapist as appropriate.
- Implement the patient’s physical therapy plan of treatment under the supervision and direction of the Physical Therapist.
- Measure and document patient progress related to motor function, strength, mobility, and muscle performance.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment interventions and modify treatment approaches as clinically appropriate, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and supervising Physical Therapist.
- Provide clinical support and education to patients, family members, and caregivers in collaboration with the Physical Therapist.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner in accordance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Attend required meetings and participate in other duties as designated by the Director of Rehabilitation.
Physical Therapy Assistant Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or long-term care setting preferred.
- Current knowledge of physical therapy treatment practices and interventions.
- Familiarity with the Net Health electronic documentation system preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively work with patients and residents with a variety of personalities, needs, and abilities.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Physical Therapists and the interdisciplinary team.
Physical Therapy Assistant Requirements
- Active and valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in TX.
- Must be in good standing with all applicable regulatory agencies and licensing boards.
