Job Summary: Provides coordinated physical therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide quality care to patients.
Essential Functions: Evaluation:
Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the physical therapist. Notifies supervisor of changes in patient status or untoward patient responses. Completes appropriate documentation promptly (within 24 hours of the visit).
Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water, and electrical modalities to patients.
Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
Uses effective interpersonal relegations and communications skills to provide patient and caregiver education.
Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediaries and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance as necessary.
Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
Participates in the Agency's QAPI program.
Participates in the Agency-sponsored in-serve training.
Job Qualifications: Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapist assistant with an associate-level degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
Licensure:
Active, state license as a physical therapist assistant, or a multi-state license issued by a Physical Therapy Licensure Compact (PTLC) member state, or if licensure does not apply, meets one of the requirements listed in 42 CFR §484.115(h).
Experience:
One year of experience as a physical therapist in an acute care, rehabilitation, or home health setting preferred.
Skills:
Therapy skills are defined as generally accepted standards of practice.
Good interpersonal skills.
Proof of current CPR certification—knowledge of durable medical equipment.
Transportation:
Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
Must have a current driver’s license.
Environmental and Working Conditions: Works in a healthcare facility or patients’ homes in various conditions; possible exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases; ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
Physical and Mental Effort: The ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking are required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient/client needs, and to meet patient and family psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Salary: $70,000 - $85,000.
