THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Health Services Agency is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and leadership-driven Physical Therapist Supervisor to join our team. This is a working supervisor role dedicated to serving children with complex medical conditions through the California Children's Services (CCS) Medical Therapy Program (MTP). They demonstrate expertise in evaluation, treatment planning, and evidence-based interventions while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams, caregivers, and families. They carry out supervisory responsibilities and oversee the work of staff physical therapists. They must demonstrate strong organizational skills, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to providing culturally responsive, family-centered care that supports improved functional outcomes.

TENTATIVE RECRUITMENT SCHEDULE

Written Examination: Scheduled on a continuous basis, tentatively once per month.
THE POSITION
Under medical direction, the physical therapist supervisor plans and provides therapy for physically disabled pediatric clients (ages 0-21) eligible for the California Children's Services Medical Therapy Program. This classification requires specialized knowledge in pediatric care, physical therapy laws and regulations, and will work independently and on an interdisciplinary team with parents and other professionals.
Acting in a leadership capacity, the supervisor assigns, reviews, and directs the work of staff physical therapists. They are responsible for training staff, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring task completion aligns with established policies. This lead role carries greater responsibility and judgment latitude, directly assisting the Chief Phys/Occupational Therapist. This position is subject to overtime, standby, and callback assignments, and performs related duties as required.
This position is within a dual classification for the Physical/Occupational Therapist. This recruitment is for the Physical Therapist III.

Incumbents may also be subject to overtime, standby, callback, weekend, holiday and shift assignments as identified in their MOU (Memorandum of Understanding).
