Physical Therapist
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Primarily Monday–Friday, occasional Saturday, No Nights, No Call
The Physical Therapist evaluates patients, develops individualized treatment plans, and provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions to restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent disability. This position treats a combination of orthopedic, inpatient, and outpatient cases while collaborating closely with physicians, rehabilitation staff, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing patient evaluations.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient goals and functional status.
Provide evidence-based physical therapy interventions.
Treat orthopedic, inpatient, and outpatient rehabilitation patients.
Improve mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional independence.
Administer therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, moist heat/cold therapy, infrared, ultraviolet, and other physical agents.
Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices as appropriate.
Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs), students, and rehabilitation support staff.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.
Educate patients and caregivers regarding home exercise programs and rehabilitation goals.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and rehabilitation professionals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy (Master's preferred).
Current and unrestricted New Mexico Physical Therapist License.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Physical Therapy.
Orthopedic rehabilitation experience.
Acute Care Hospital experience.
Outpatient rehabilitation experience.
Experience supervising PTAs and students.
Experience with prosthetic and orthotic evaluations.
Manual therapy experience.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation experience.
