A health services network in New York City has a great Part-time opportunity awaiting a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) to join one of their inpatient mental health facilities on Staten Island.
About the Opportunity:
Shift: Day shift
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: 10am to 2pm
Setting: Inpatient mental health facility
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, including functional mobility, gait and balance, fall risk, musculoskeletal, and neuromotor assessments
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to patients in a psychiatric setting
- Deliver therapeutic exercise, functional training, fall prevention, safety education, and pain management interventions
- Adapt care plans for patients with fluctuating mental status, behavioral challenges, limited insight, and co-occurring medical conditions
- Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, medicine, occupational therapy, social work, and recreational therapy teams to support treatment and discharge planning
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
- Successful completion of an approved clinical internship or residency program
- Active New York State Physical Therapist license
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience in an interdisciplinary, team-based care environment
Desired Skills:
- Doctor of Physical Therapy degree
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Experience in a psychiatric, behavioral health, or inpatient rehabilitation setting
- Background working with patients with severe mental illness, cognitive impairments, substance use disorders, or neurological and physical disabilities
