Published Description: Pay: $63 - $68 per hourPosition SummaryThe School-Based Physical Therapist provides evaluation and therapeutic services to students with physical disabilities or motor impairments that impact access to the educational environment. The Physical Therapist supports students in developing functional mobility, positioning, and motor skills necessary to participate safely and effectively in school activities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and applicable regulations.Essential ResponsibilitiesEvaluation & AssessmentConduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations to determine student needs related to mobility, posture, strength, endurance, and motor function.Interpret assessment results and prepare written evaluation reports.Participate in eligibility and IEP meetings as a related service provider.Direct & Indirect Therapy ServicesProvide individualized and group physical therapy services aligned with IEP goals.Develop and implement intervention plans that support participation in academic and school-related activities.Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on data and team input.Consultation & CollaborationCollaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, school nurses, and other team members.Consult with staff on positioning, mobility supports, and safe movement strategies in the classroom and school environment.Train school personnel and families on therapeutic strategies, equipment use, and safety procedures.Assistive Technology & EquipmentRecommend and support the use of adaptive equipment, mobility devices, and environmental modifications.Assist with selection, fitting, and monitoring of equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, standers, and orthotics.Ensure safe and effective use of equipment in school settings.Documentation & ComplianceMaintain accurate and timely records, progress reports, and service logs.Ensure services comply with IDEA, Section 504, and state regulations.Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and program planning.Professional PracticeAdhere to ethical and professional standards established by the American Physical Therapy Association.Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain licensure and clinical competence.QualificationsDoctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.Eligibility for or possession of school-based certification/authorization as required by the state.Knowledge of pediatric physical therapy practices and school-based service delivery models.Understanding of special education processes and IEP development.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a school or pediatric setting.Familiarity with adaptive equipment and assistive technology for students with disabilities.Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.Commitment to inclusive practices and student-centered care.Working ConditionsSchool-based environment serving students across classrooms, therapy spaces, and school facilities.May require travel between multiple school sites within the district.Occasional participation in meetings outside regular school hours.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift, transfer, and assist students with mobility needs.Ability to demonstrate physical activities and therapeutic exercises.Stamina for standing, walking, and positioning students throughout the school day.#INDEDU1Job Types: Full-time, Contract, TemporaryBenefits:Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insuranceVision insuranceWork Location: In personDiscipline: Physical Therapist (PT)Specialty : SchoolStart Date: 07-Aug-2026Length of Contract : Duration of School YearShift: DaysHours: 8Estimated Gross Pay: null
