The Training Room Clinic:

The Training Room, a part of Physical Rehabilitation Network, is one of San Diego's premier sports medicine and orthopedic physical therapy clinics, serving athletes and active individuals of all ages and competitive levels. Led by Clinic Director and Owner, Rick Stauffer, PT, CSCS, PES, our team is dedicated to helping patients return to peak performance through evidence-based rehabilitation, injury prevention, performance enhancement, and post-operative care.

We have earned a strong reputation for the evaluation and treatment of sports-related injuries, particularly baseball and overhead athlete injuries. Salary & Incentives:

  • Base Salary: $85,000 - $115,000
  • Monthly incentive bonus up to $2,500 each month
  • Student Loan Repayment up to $25,000

About the Role

As a Sports Medicine Physical Therapist, you will work with athletes and active individuals ranging from youth competitors to collegiate and professional athletes. You will evaluate, treat, and guide patients through injury recovery, performance-focused rehabilitation, return-to-sport programming, and post-operative care. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Rick Stauffer and an experienced clinical team in an environment focused on mentorship, professional growth, and clinical excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat athletes and active individuals with orthopedic and sports-related injuries.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans emphasizing evidence-based rehabilitation and return-to-sport progression.
  • Provide hands-on care utilizing manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, movement analysis, and performance-focused interventions.
  • Manage post-operative orthopedic cases and collaborate with referring physicians and surgeons.
  • Assess and treat baseball athletes and other overhead athletes with sport-specific rehabilitation programs.
  • Guide patients through return-to-play and injury prevention strategies.
  • Educate athletes, coaches, and families regarding recovery timelines, performance optimization, and injury prevention.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation utilizing integrated AI-assisted documentation technology.
  • Collaborate with fellow clinicians to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Participate in mentorship, continuing education, and clinical development opportunities.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist
  • Doctorate or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • CPR certification and any other relevant certifications as required by state regulations
  • Strong clinical skills with experience in orthopedic, neurological, or geriatric physical therapy (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Proficient computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes
