About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Total Rehab Care team. Under the direction and supervision of licensed Physical Therapists, you will provide hands-on treatment and follow-up care to patients across the lifespan-from newborns to geriatric populations. Your work will play a critical role in helping patients achieve their highest possible level of function and independence.
This position is ideal for a PTA who values teamwork, patient-centered care, and professional growth within a collaborative rehab environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Physical Therapist's established plan of care and Maryland licensure guidelines
Administer therapeutic interventions, monitor patient status, and report changes requiring reassessment
Collect objective data and document patient progress accurately and timely
Assist with discharge planning, referrals, and coordination of continuing care
Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, exercises, and equipment use
Collaborate with Physical Therapists, physicians, and interdisciplinary rehab team members
Participate in case conferences and team meetings
Supervise and mentor aides, students, observers, and volunteers as assigned
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program
Associate of Arts degree required
Licensure & Certification
or temporary Maryland license pending state board examination or reciprocity
Experience
No prior clinical experience required beyond educational training
Ability to perform all job functions independently after initial orientation period
Skills & Abilities
Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to learn and use electronic medical records and point-of-care documentation systems
Comfortable working with diverse patient populations and care needs
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and assist patients throughout the workday
May be required to lift or transfer patients and equipment
Exposure to blood and bodily fluids and typical healthcare clinical environments
