A.Patient Care
1.Appropriately carry out and progress treatment plans, including corrective exercise and treatment for assigned patients of all age categories throughout the lifespan of newborn pediatric to geriatric as designed by the physical therapist at the initial evaluation.
2. Notify therapist of any changes in response to treatment and provides input in revising treatment plans as needed.
3.Under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist, administer safe and effective modality treatments and performs manual therapy procedures correctly including massage, soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and myofascial release.
4.Demonstrates proper and efficient use of department equipment such as: traction, Isokinetic exercise system, aerobic equipment, weight machines, and free weights.
5.Instructs patients in proper and safe transfer training and gait training techniques including the use of wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes, braces, and prosthetic devices.
6.Instructs patient and family members in home exercise programs and discharge planning as appropriate.
7.Prepares written documentation in patient charts in accordance with department policy and as directed by the PT (d/c summaries, progress notes, daily notes with charges, prescriptions, and patient status reports).
8.Supervise PT Technicians as appropriate. Supervise students, volunteers, and new associates as required by dept.
9.Consistently demonstrates a complete knowledge of body mechanics to avoid injury to self or patients.
10.Conducts inservice programs for medical or nursing personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives, body mechanics, etc as needed.
11.Performs other duties as directed.
B.Technical and Clerical Skills
1.Assists in other work as required by the department between procedures and therapist assigned duties such as filing, typing, and clerical duties.
2.Demonstrates a cost-conscious attitude in all aspects of job.
3.As required, assists in the ordering of supplies and all necessary equipment.
