Your Role

As a key member of the surgical team, you will:

• Serve as the primary first assistant for major and minor general surgical procedures

• Assist with laparoscopic, robotic, elective, and acute care cases

• Evaluate and round on postoperative patients in the hospital

• Participate in inpatient surgical consultations

• Assist with perioperative patient management

• Conduct postoperative and surgical follow-up visits in the office

• Develop strong relationships with patients throughout their surgical care

• Work directly with the attending surgeon to develop your clinical and operative skills

• Gradually assume increasing autonomy and responsibility as experience is gained

Schedule & Call

• Monday–Friday schedule

• Elective surgery, inpatient rounding, consultations, and office hours

• Approximately 1 week of call every 5 weeks

• Non-call weeks are focused primarily on elective surgery and office responsibilities

• Weekend, evening, and holiday responsibilities occur only during scheduled call weeks

Compensation

$130,000–$150,000 annual starting salary for Years 1–2, depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

• NCCPA certification

• Current or eligible New Jersey PA license

• Surgical experience preferred; 1–2 years is ideal

• Strong interest in general and acute care surgery

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and progressively develop surgical independence
