City Heights Posted 4 hours ago Website La Maestra Community Health Center Pay Range: $85.00 to $105.00 Hourly, Depends on Experience (DOE) Location: City Heights or El Cajon Hours: Full Time, Part-Time, or Per Diem Summary Under the direction of the Department Medical Director and the Supervising Physician, provides primary care services to clinic patients. Responsibilities Examine patients to determine presence of disease, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, medical history, ascertains nature and extent of disease and prescribes treatments as indicated. Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination. Consults with Department Medical Director or supervisory physicians as needed for difficult cases not covered under protocols. Order appropriate treatments, medications and diagnostic studies. Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval. Respond to inquiries from referring physicians, hospital staff and patients regarding the diagnosis and treatment of conditions as well as eligibility for research protocols. Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests Prepare reports as necessary Perform physical and mental assessments, disease prevention and restorative measures, performance of skin tests and immunization techniques, and withdrawals of blood, as well as authority to initiate emergency procedures. Refer patients to other medical specialties as necessary. Provides education and advice to patients and their families. Maintain effective communication and working relationships with other employees and patients Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and perform other job-related duties requested by their supervisor. Job Requirements Education: Completion of Certified Physician Assistant training program. Certification: Current valid California Physician Assistant License, current valid DEA registration, current valid CPR certification. Experience: One year experience working with underserved, low-income persons preferred. A strong commitment to serve the medically underserved families. Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job: Bilingual preferred. Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Accurate keyboarding skills. Technical knowledge and skills required to perform the job: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups. Demonstrate high levels of self-initiation and direction. Knowledge of communities we serve. Knowledge and experience working in medical settings and interacting collaboratively with medical teams. Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions. Physical and Mental Requirements: Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
