Physician Asst-EVH

Job Summary

The Cardiothoracic Surgery team is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant with experience in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and surgical first assisting. This role supports a comprehensive adult cardiothoracic surgery program, including hybrid, minimally invasive, and robotic procedures.

The Physician Assistant will collaborate closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality cardiovascular surgical care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting for cardiothoracic surgical procedures

• First assist in cardiothoracic surgeries, including minimally invasive and robotic procedures

• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments

• Participate in perioperative patient management and care coordination

• Collaborate with surgeons, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals

• Document patient care accurately and timely in electronic medical record systems

• Support quality and safety initiatives within the surgical program

• Engage in continued professional development and clinical skill advancement

Qualifications

Education:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

Experience:
Clinical experience appropriate to cardiothoracic surgery preferred

Licensure/Certification:

• Current Physician Assistant (PA) license required

• DEA license required

• AHA BLS-HCP certification required

• Advanced Life Support certification preferred and required if using a defibrillator in practice

• Meets credentialing requirements

• Eligible for malpractice insurance coverage

• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare providers

• Strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams
