About Our Organization We focus on the thorough management of acute musculoskeletal trauma as part of our active Level III Trauma program, the busiest in Western Maryland. Our dedicated team offers round-the-clock access to advanced orthopedic trauma services, providing both immediate surgical and non-surgical interventions for serious injuries affecting bones, joints, and soft tissues. Your Role As an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon with us, you will:
Deliver emergency surgical interventions, including both immediate surgical and non-surgical treatment for traumatic injuries to bones, joints, and soft tissues.
Conduct advanced reconstructive surgeries for complex fractures, including procedures related to the pelvis and acetabulum.
Work closely with trauma teams, anesthesiologists, critical care experts, rehabilitation personnel, and other multidisciplinary providers to ensure integrated, high-quality patient care.
Engage in the education and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students in surgical techniques and trauma management.
Oversee inpatient and trauma-related orthopedic cases, emphasizing timely interventions and long-term recovery.
Accurately and promptly document patient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Participate in initiatives aimed at quality improvement and the development of the trauma program.
Essential Qualifications
Education: A Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution is required, along with completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency. Fellowship training in Orthopedic Trauma is preferred.
Experience: Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery is necessary (or board eligibility with active pursuit of certification). Experience in trauma care, complex fracture management, and high-volume trauma environments is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: An active Maryland medical license (or eligibility to obtain one) is required. Current DEA registration and CDS permit are necessary. BLS (CPR) certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must demonstrate critical thinking, extensive clinical competence, and surgical proficiency in orthopedic trauma. Strong collaborative skills with multidisciplinary teams at all levels are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with strong organizational skills, are required. Familiarity with case management, outcomes management, and managed care is beneficial.
