Summary:

WMC Health's Section of Trauma, General Surgery and surgical critical care is seeking fellowship trained trauma surgeons with a specialization in trauma surgery and surgical critical care.We are an ACS verified Level 1 regional Trauma Center, and the trauma program is an integral component of a large academic Department of Surgery and quaternary care hospital.

Experience:

Applicants must be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Requirements include demonstrated skills in emergency surgery, elective general surgery, surgical critical care and, trauma patient care, and a record of teaching and research experience (health services, translational or basic science research).The Trauma Surgeon reports directly to the Chief of Trauma, General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and the Chair of the Department of Surgery.Candidate requirements include an M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy, as well as the completion of a general surgery residency and a surgical critical care fellowship.

Westchester Medical Center, the primary teaching hospital of New York Medical College, offers a robust academic environment with ACGME-accredited General Surgery Residency and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship programs. Our growing Section of Trauma, General Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care comprises 27 surgeons across the network, and we are seeking to expand our faculty at the main campus with an additional surgeon. Faculty have ample opportunities to participate in medical student, resident, and fellow education. Our established International Research Fellowship Program provides dedicated research support and opportunities for faculty to collaborate with research fellows on clinical studies, scholarly projects, and peer-reviewed publications. Academic appointment at New York Medical College will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This employed position within our academic group practice offers comprehensive benefits and malpractice coverage.
