Job Description

• This role supports experienced pipefitters with the installation, assembly, and maintenance of piping systems in a shipyard environment. You will assist with preparing materials and tools, performing basic fabrication tasks, and ensuring work areas remain safe and organized while learning to interpret blueprints and project specifications under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist pipefitters with the installation and assembly of pipes according to project specifications.
• Help measure, cut, thread, and fit pipes to required dimensions.
• Prepare and transport pipes, fittings, and equipment to designated work areas.
• Organize, set up, and maintain tools and materials needed for pipefitting tasks.
• Clean and prepare work areas, remove debris, and maintain safe working conditions.
• Support job site setup and teardown as directed by tenured pipefitters.
• Follow blueprints, drawings, and layout instructions under supervision.
• Perform basic fabrication tasks, including cutting pipes, threading, and assisting with the installation of valves and fixtures.
• Aid in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining existing piping systems.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while using hand and power tools.
• Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a cooperative work environment.

Work Environment

• This position is based in Camp Pendleton, working around active construction and mechanical operations. You work primarily on-site, handling pipes, fittings, and tools in industrial areas that may be noisy and require adherence to strict safety procedures. The work involves physical activity such as lifting, bending, and working in varied positions and conditions, often around heavy equipment and power tools. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety in the shipyard environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oceanside, CA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
