POSITION: Piping Superintendent

SUMMARY: The Piping Superintendent directs and leads a piping crew on a project. Responsible for managing all aspects of piping installation activities, including planning, coordination, materials, and monitoring performance/productivity.
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervising one or more crews and providing guidance and training to pipefitters, welders, craft personnel, and apprentices on crews
- Planning, organizing, and assigning piping work to be done by crews
- Coordinating piping installation activities with other trades, subcontractors, and project personnel
- Reviewing piping drawings, isometrics, specifications, and project requirements to ensure work is performed according to plans
- Monitoring piping installation, fabrication, fit-up, welding, testing, and completion activities
- Ensuring piping work is installed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and applicable standards
- Managing, receiving, tracking, and reporting piping materials, fittings, valves, supports, and other materials used on site
- Managing the storage, security, and maintenance of piping tools, equipment, welding equipment, and applicable manuals
- Supervising craft personnel and monitoring daily work assignments and productivity
- Providing input regarding the selection, placement, and termination of field craft personnel
- Assisting in planning and implementing piping construction means and methods, schedules, productivity improvements, and site logistics
- Coordinating on-site piping manpower, materials, equipment, and work areas
- Assisting Foremen with technical and field-related problem resolution
- Assisting with piping system walkdowns, punch list activities, testing, flushing, and turnover requirements
- Participating in schedule reviews, production reviews, and planning meetings
- Monitoring progress against project schedules and identifying potential delays or manpower/material issues
- Ensuring compliance with the project safety and quality plans, OSHA requirements, applicable piping codes, and other regulatory agencies
- Promoting safe work practices and ensuring all piping personnel understand and follow project safety requirements
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience supervising pipefitters, welders, craft personnel, and apprentices, including assigning work, training, and monitoring productivity.
- Strong knowledge of piping installation, fabrication, fit-up, welding, testing, flushing, and system turnover.
- Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, isometrics, specifications, and project requirements.
- Experience coordinating manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, other trades, and site work areas to maintain efficient field operations.
- Knowledge of applicable piping codes, quality standards, OSHA requirements, and project safety procedures.
- Experience with material management, including receiving, tracking, storing, and reporting piping materials, fittings, valves, and supports.
- Strong field leadership and planning skills, with experience monitoring schedules, resolving technical issues, completing walkdowns/punch lists, and identifying potential delays or productivity concerns.
