Planner 1 is responsible for assisting in the preparation, coordination, and monitoring of project plans and schedules. This entry-level position supports more senior planners and supervisors by gathering data, developing basic work plans, and ensuring that resources are effectively allocated to meet project timelines. Planner 1 plays a key role in ensuring work is scheduled efficiently and that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain simple work orders, job plans, and schedules under supervision.
Assist in gathering and verifying information from operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
Support the creation of work packages, including job steps, materials, labor requirements, and safety information.
Monitor the status of work orders and update schedules accordingly.
Communicate with supervisors and team leaders regarding upcoming work, material needs, and potential schedule conflicts.
Use planning and scheduling software (such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or CMMS systems) to input and update project information.
Assist in preparing reports and updates for internal teams and management.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical training preferred.
0-2 years of experience in maintenance planning, project coordination, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of planning concepts and scheduling tools.
Familiarity with maintenance processes and/or construction workflows is a plus.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to read and interpret basic drawings and technical documents (desired but not mandatory).
Preferred Skills:
Exposure to CMMS systems (SAP, Maximo, etc.).
Understanding of basic project management principles.
Mechanical or industrial aptitude.
Team-oriented with a proactive attitude.
Working Conditions:
Office setting with occasional field visits.
May require wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when in operational areas.
Normal working hours, with possible overtime during major project phases or outages.
