Job Summary The Plant Maintenance supports daily operations at the ready-mix plant by keeping the yard, equipment, and mixer trucks clean and functional, assisting with loading/unloading and concrete pouring support, and serving as a backup driver when needed. This is a hands-on, all-purpose support role, not a landscaping-focused position.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on the batch plant, including conveyors, bins, scales, gates, motors, and water and admixture systems.
Inspect, service, and repair mixer trucks, including drum, chute, hydraulics, and basic mechanical and electrical issues.
Maintain and repair loaders, skid steers, and other yard equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment problems quickly to minimize downtime and escalate larger repairs to the Plant Manager or outside vendors.
Complete basic welding, fabrication, and part replacement as needed.
Check and change fluids, filters, belts, hoses, and wear parts on a regular schedule.
Keep maintenance logs, repair records, and parts inventory up to date.
Support DOT inspection readiness for company vehicles.
Follow lockout/tagout, PPE, and OSHA/MSHA safety procedures at all times.
Report safety hazards and equipment concerns promptly.
Other duties as assigned. This job description reflects the general nature of the position but is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required.
Qualifications
Experience in heavy equipment, diesel, industrial, or plant maintenance required; ready-mix or concrete plant experience preferred.
Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, diagrams, and maintenance procedures.
Welding skills preferred.
CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred — a CDL holder can also serve as a backup driver when needed.
Own hand tools preferred; company tools and equipment provided as needed.
Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently.
Physical Work Requirements
Stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Climb on/around equipment and mixer trucks as needed.
Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and precipitation.
Use required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, high-visibility clothing, gloves).
Lift/carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Schedule, Travel & Work Conditions
Full-time schedule, Monday–Friday, with weekends as needed.
Occasional backup-driving duties on short notice when a regular driver is unavailable.
Primarily on-site at the plant; minimal offsite travel outside of backup delivery runs.
What We Offer
Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
On-the-job training on equipment operation.
Supportive, team-oriented work environment.
Consistent, full-time work.
