Job Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment within a plant setting, including monitoring process variables, collecting samples, performing basic analysis, troubleshooting malfunctions, and ensuring the plant operates within quality and safety standards, often working closely with production teams to optimize processes and maintain product quality.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee laboratory instruments and other specialized equipment relevant to the plant''s production process, monitoring readings and adjusting parameters as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards by performing routine quality checks, identifying deviations from specifications, and initiating corrective actions when necessary.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance: Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments, and coordinate with technicians for complex repairs.
  • Perform regular calibrations and standardizations of laboratory equipment to maintain the accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in the laboratory, including proper handling of chemicals and hazardous materials, and report any safety concerns.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials

Fireman 2nd Class [Massachusetts License] - Massachusetts Department of Fire Services required

Experience

Experience in maintenance of plant/lab operations and equipment 2-3 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of laboratory equipment relevant to the plant's production process.
  • Ability to precisely follow procedures, record data accurately, and identify minute variations in results.
  • Capability to diagnose equipment issues, troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with laboratory software for data analysis and reporting.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a safe laboratory environment.
