Platform Architecture Lead

Pay Rate: $75–$85/hour
Location: Boston, MA
Work Arrangement: 90% onsite and 10% remote. This arrangement is subject to change based on client requirements.
Local Candidates: Required. Candidates must be local to Boston.
Education: Professional Degree required
Industry Experience: Healthcare and PBM experience required.
Vaccination: No vaccination mandate.
Work Authorization: New contractors must have valid work authorization for at least 6 months beyond the projected assignment end date. 12 months is preferred.
Travel: Client will cover travel and related expenses.
Extension: N/A.

Position Overview

The Platform Architecture Lead will own the shared technology foundation that supports every product, including data, integration, infrastructure, cloud, and the AI-enabled Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). This individual will establish architecture standards, reusable services, and technical guardrails that allow delivery teams to work efficiently while maintaining consistency, security, and adherence to demanding non-functional requirements. The role will lead the data, integration, infrastructure, and AI SDLC architects while partnering closely with platform engineering. We are looking for an experienced architect who has established target-state standards for a large-scale cloud-native environment and can drive adoption across multiple teams without creating delivery bottlenecks.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and establish the shared technology foundation across platform architecture, data, integration, infrastructure, cloud, and AI-enabled SDLC.

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture standards, reusable services, and technical guardrails.

• Establish target-state architecture standards for a large-scale cloud-native platform environment.

• Ensure architecture consistency, security, scalability, and adherence to non-functional requirements.

• Lead and coordinate data, integration, infrastructure, and AI SDLC architects.

• Partner with platform engineering to support architecture implementation and delivery.

• Oversee integration architecture, interface management, and technology alignment across multiple workstreams.

• Drive architecture governance and ensure standards are consistently followed across delivery teams.

• Support the transformation and migration of existing PBM capabilities into the new cloud-native platform.

• Enable delivery teams to move efficiently while maintaining a consistent and secure technology foundation.

Required Qualifications

• Professional Degree required.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in each of the required skill areas listed below.

• Strong industry experience in Healthcare and Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) is required.

• Extensive experience in enterprise-level platform architecture and cloud-native environments.

• Demonstrated experience establishing target-state architecture standards and governance.

• Experience leading architecture teams and coordinating across multiple technical workstreams.

• Strong understanding of data, integration, infrastructure, cloud, and AI-enabled development environments.

• Must be local to the Boston, MA area and able to work onsite 90% of the time.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level Platform Architecture Lead with extensive enterprise architecture experience and a strong background in healthcare and Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM). They should have experience leading architecture across large-scale cloud-native transformations, establishing enterprise-wide standards, managing integration and data architecture, and driving architecture governance across multiple delivery teams. Candidates should be able to demonstrate hands-on leadership in building and maintaining a shared technology foundation while enabling teams to deliver efficiently, securely, and consistently.
