Job Description

About Togetherhood

At Togetherhood, we’re building something special: a vibrant marketplace where passionate educators meet schools and communities hungry for enrichment. Whether it’s arts & crafts, basketball, breakdancing, chess, or STEM, we match talented instructors with opportunities to share their skills and spark joy in the next generation.

Our mission is simple but powerful: “to infuse every community with high quality enrichment and education.” We're here to support you in sharing your craft, your voice, and your passion with kids who are ready to learn and grow. If you're a dynamic instructor who loves what you teach and why you teach it, we'd love for you to be part of Togetherhood.

What You'll Do

As a member of our network, you will be matched with opportunities to teach Playwriting to K-12 students at schools, buildings, and communities across Washington DC.

These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks, and all will end in the students performing the play you write as a group. Therefore, those with Acting and Musical Writing skills, in addition to Playwriting expertise, are encouraged to apply!

As an after school instructor, you'll have the following responsibilities:
Develop age-appropriate Playwriting curriculum for after-school students
Lead weekly in-person classes with enthusiasm and expertise
Establish a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged
Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment for students of varying skill levels
Build connections with students in a warm and inclusive environment
Track student growth and offer positive, helpful feedback
Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to teach
Create a memorable experience for the children in your class

  • Knows how to create a fun, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you teach
  • Is cooperative, supportive, flexible
  • Is dependable, proactive, and thrives when given autonomy … and also appreciates support and clear expectations
$90 - $120 an hour
