Description
As a Loyola University Plumber, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of plumbing systems across the Loyola campus. The Plumber will involve diagnosing, repairing, and installing plumbing fixtures, pipes, and systems in various university buildings, including dormitories, academic buildings, administrative offices, and recreational facilities. The Plumber will collaborate with other maintenance staff and university departments to address plumbing issues promptly and efficiently, contributing to the overall safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the campus environment.
Examples of Duties
Perform routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Respond promptly to plumbing service requests from university staff, faculty, and students, addressing issues such as leaks, clogs, and malfunctions.
Diagnose plumbing problems using appropriate tools and techniques, and implement effective repair solutions.
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, showers, and water heaters, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and building codes.
Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to extend the lifespan of plumbing systems and prevent costly repairs.
Collaborate with other maintenance personnel and university departments to coordinate plumbing projects and ensure timely completion.
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Respond to emergency plumbing situations outside of regular working hours, as needed, to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of campus occupants.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including storage areas, equipment, and job sites.
Stay informed about advances in plumbing technology, techniques, and regulations through training programs, workshops, and professional development opportunities.

In accordance with the Campus Security Act as amended, Loyola University publishes annually and distributes to members of the academic community, and upon request to prospective (students/employees), an annual security report. That report includes current policies and procedures of the University Police Department for the reporting of campus crimes, notifying the campus community of occurrence of campus crimes, policies regarding access to campus buildings, the enforcement authority of the University Police Officers and their relationship to local police. University policies on the possession, use and sale of alcohol and illegal drugs are outlined. The Campus sexual Assault Program and policy is described. Campus crime statistics as defined under this law for the last three calendar years are included. A copy of this report may be secured from the (Office of Admissions), (Office of Human Resources), or from the University Police Department.
