Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Chief Medical Officer for clinical matters and the Hospital Chief Executive Officer or designee for administrative matters.
  • Provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s), including services customarily performed by physicians in physical and rehabilitation medicine.
  • Collaborate with the Facilitys leadership, staff, and other practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures reflecting current standards of practice.
  • Identify, evaluate, and address medical and clinical concerns affecting patient care, medical care, or quality of life.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, consult, and manage patients with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability, including diagnosis and treatment of painful or functionally limiting conditions.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electro-diagnostic medicine, and emphasize prevention of complications from secondary conditions.
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with Medical Staff Policy regarding Emergency and Consultative call services.
  • Perform physical examinations and prescribe treatment plans, including the use of physical agents or other interventions.
  • Admit patients to inpatient or other levels of care for treatment, perform general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, and review and approve pre-admission screenings.
  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records in compliance with mandated regulatory, legal, or accrediting standards.

Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current state medical license.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Current practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Leadership skills in inclusiveness, stewardship, resource management, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, quality improvement, teamwork, strategic planning, and organizing.
  • Experience in staff education management, including curriculum development, supervision, performance evaluations, daily rounds, lectures, demonstrations, informal discussions, and continuing education for medical staff.
