Pollution Control Inspector 2 (Department of Environmental Resources Management)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related natural science and one year of experience investigating or analyzing pollution and/or environmental problems and developing solutions are required; or one year of experience as a Pollution Control Inspector 1 with Miami-Dade County is required. Must possess a Driver license.

Recruitment Notes

This role entails technical field and office work inspecting and sampling industrial facilities for compliance with the local environmental protection ordinance (chapter 24). Responsibilities entail obtaining groundwater, drinking water, surface water and wastewater (industrial and domestic) samples requiring bottling, packaging, and transporting to laboratory in accordance with established protocol. This role also collects aqueous, sludge and solid sample for both laboratory and field analysis, update database to document inspection findings and the necessary follow-ups in accordance with stablished protocol. Incumbents in this role also conduct office duties as needed, write inspection reports that are precise and factual, and that adequately portray the current site conditions at regulated facilities using the tools available for that purpose and issue written field notices that communicate violations or concerns found during a particular inspection. Incumbents in this role become the primary lead on Section enforcement cases by performing consecutive follow-up inspections at sites with violations and providing timely updates to management and Enforcement Section staff.
