The postdoctoral track of the CITP fellows program is for people who have recently received or are about to receive a Ph.D. or doctorate degree and work on understanding and improving the relationship between technology and society. The priority areas of our center include (1) AI, Data Science and Society, (2) Privacy and Security, and (3) Platforms and Digital Infrastructure. CITP tightly integrates basic research, applied research, and societal engagement, enabling distinctive impact, both academic and societal. In this context, we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds such as computer science, electrical and computer engineering, sociology, public policy, information science, communication, economics, political science, psychology, philosophy, and related technology disciplines. Selected candidates will be appointed at the postdoctoral research associate or more senior research rank. The term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026, and can be renewed for a second-year contingent on performance and continued funding. Fellows in the postdoctoral track are not required or expected to teach, but if they wish, they may have the option of teaching. Teaching opportunities are subject to sufficient course enrollment and the approval of the Dean of the Faculty. Postdoctoral track requirements: Both CITP and Princeton University place high value on in-person collaborations and interactions. This position is in-person at CITP on the Princeton University campus. All appointments are subject to the University background check policy. *Ph.D. or doctorate degree is expected. The appointment will not be finalized, and an exact start date will not be set, until the candidate has defended their thesis or has proof of a doctorate degree. Expected Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000

The University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates qualifications, work experience, education/training, key skills, market, collective bargaining agreements as applicable, and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The posted salary range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate for a full-time position; salaries for part-time positions are pro-rated accordingly.
