Job Summary

 

Alabama Power is seeking a Power Plant Process Engineer II with 5–7 years of experience to support the performance, reliability, and optimization of power plant systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with coal-fired or natural gas power plants, emissions control systems, equipment troubleshooting, and plant performance monitoring. This role requires strong field experience, the ability to work independently, and collaboration with plant personnel and OEM vendors.

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Monitor and optimize power plant equipment and system performance.

·       Support coal-fired and natural gas power plant operations.

·       Troubleshoot plant systems and identify performance improvement opportunities.

·       Perform field inspections, equipment walkdowns, and condition assessments.

·       Support outage planning, inspections, and repair activities.

·       Monitor environmental control systems, including FGD, SCR, ESP, Fabric Filters, MATS, and SO.

·       Utilize plant monitoring software and information systems to analyze operational data.

·       Coordinate with plant personnel, engineering teams, and OEM vendors such as GE, Mitsubishi, and URS.

·       Prepare technical reports and provide engineering recommendations.

·       Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

 

Required Qualifications

·       Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred).

·       5–7 years of engineering experience in power generation or a related industrial environment.

·       Experience with coal-fired or natural gas power plant systems.

·       Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

·       Experience performing field inspections and equipment walkdowns.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
