Responsibilities

The Clinical Quality Nurse partners with physicians, practice leaders, and cross-functional teams to advance quality outcomes, patient and employee safety, regulatory compliance, value-based care performance, and continuous performance improvement across the organization. The Clinical Quality Nurse is responsible for developing and monitoring quality and safety programs, leading risk reduction initiatives, and promoting evidence-based clinical practice standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in Quality and Safety Committee, including agenda development, facilitation, documentation, and follow-up on action plans.
  • Monitor quality and safety performance metrics; analyze data and identify trends and risks to drive measurable improvements in operational performance and patient outcomes.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and standards to ensure alignment with evidence-based practices and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Promote and monitor adherence to organizational policies and professional standards.
  • Conduct and support annual Practice Health and Safety Assessments; evaluate clinical operations, emergency preparedness, medical equipment management, documentation, environmental safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of clinical quality performance reports for value-based and payer quality programs to identify opportunities for follow-up, escalation, or stakeholder engagement as appropriate.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and partner to physicians, practice managers, and operational teams by providing guidance, facilitating communication, and supporting practice-led quality improvement efforts.
  • Lead infection prevention, surveillance, and control activities in accordance with evidence-based guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan, lead and participate in OSHA workplace initiatives including exposure prevention, post-exposure management, vaccinations, screening programs, and workplace injury management.
  • Oversee variance and event reporting processes, including leading investigations and developing corrective actions to ensure accurate and timely documentation within designated reporting systems.
  • Support the practice manager in monitoring the completion of required clinical, safety, and regulatory education for teammates.
  • Identify educational and competency gaps through assessments, audits, incident investigations, and performance data.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies, patient safety principles, risk reduction strategies, and evidence-based clinical practice.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, OSHA requirements, infection prevention standards, and ambulatory care best practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and organizational leadership.
  • Strong critical thinking, investigation, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage competing demands, and execute corrective action plans.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, infection prevention, risk management, or ambulatory care operations.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of quality assurance and/or quality improvement experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with value-based care programs, quality reporting, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing with individuals and groups at various levels and various disciplines, including with the Sr. Executive team.

Licensure & Certification:

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of residence and/or practice location required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related healthcare field, preferred.
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Infection Prevention (CIC), Patient Safety, Risk Management, or related specialty preferred.
