Practice Coordinator – Public Affairs

Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Practice Coordinator to support our Public Affairs team. This role serves as a central point of organization for legislative tracking, client briefings, and meeting coordination to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables. This is an entry-level position, ideal for candidates who have a foundational experience and passion for public policy and government affairs.

What You’ll Do:

Project & Matter Coordination

  • Coordinate day-to-day workflow for public affairs matters, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Maintain tracking systems for legislative issues, client priorities, and activity updates
  • Manage timelines across multiple clients and policy initiatives
  • Partner with attorneys and public affairs professionals to align priorities

Client Briefings & Deliverables

  • Assist in preparing client-ready materials including legislative updates, policy summaries, and briefings
  • Compile research on policy issues, legislation, and regulatory developments
  • Support development of recurring reports and customized client deliverables
  • Ensure all materials are accurate, polished, and client-focused

Client Meeting Coordination

  • Schedule and coordinate logistics for meetings, briefings, and events
  • Prepare agendas, materials, and follow-up documentation
  • Track action items and ensure timely follow-up
  • Act as a liaison between internal teams and client stakeholders

Legislative & Policy Support

  • Monitor federal and state legislative and regulatory activity
  • Track key developments and maintain internal updates
  • Support research related to policy issues impacting clients

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, or related field
  • 0–3 years of experience in public policy, government, or professional services
  • Strong organizational, research, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Regular in-person attendance is required to perform essential functions of this interactive position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on Capitol Hill or in state government (e.g., NC General Assembly or similar legislative body)
  • Exposure to legislative processes, policy research, or government relations

Physical Requirements:

  • The work is primarily sedentary.
  • It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights.
