Pre-Admission Testing Registered Nurse (PAT)

Overview:

Pre-admission Testing RN is responsible for preparing patients for surgery and procedures by conducting comprehensive assessments, ensuring accurate documentation, and coordinating care to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

• Perform thorough pre-admission assessments including medical history, medication reconciliation, and physical examinations to evaluate patient readiness for surgery or procedures.
• Educate patients about their upcoming procedures, including preoperative instructions, fasting guidelines, and post-operative care plans to ensure understanding and compliance.
• Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and communicate pertinent information effectively.
• Screen patients for potential risks related to anesthesia or surgery by reviewing medical histories including laboratory results; identify patients requiring additional evaluation or intervention.
• Assist with specimen collection/processing, IV insertions, venipuncture, and aseptic techniques during preoperative procedures when necessary.
• Monitor patient vital signs and conduct physical examinations while assessing physiological status to detect any contraindications or complications prior to surgery.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Current California RN License 
2. Current Basic Life Support Level C (Healthcare Provider) certification.
3. One to two years of acute care experience.
