Block LLP is seeking an experienced personal injury Pre-Litigation Supervisor to provide attorney-level oversight and leadership of our pre-litigation department. This role is responsible for working with our Leadership Team in managing the performance, workflow, and quality of all pre-litigation personal injury matters while supervising Case Managers and Case Manager Assistants.

The Pre-Litigation Supervisor acts as both a strategic leader and hands-on legal authority, ensuring cases are properly evaluated, advanced efficiently, and positioned for maximum resolution value prior to litigation.

Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide attorney-level supervision of all pre-litigation personal injury cases
  • Oversee case strategy, liability analysis, damages evaluation, and settlement positioning
  • Ensure consistency, quality control, and compliance across the pre-litigation department
  • Serve as escalation point for complex cases, coverage issues, and high-value claims
  • Monitor statutes, deadlines, and risk exposure

Team Management & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and train Case Managers and Case Manager Assistants
  • Conduct regular file reviews, performance evaluations, and coaching sessions
  • Establish clear expectations, workflows, and accountability standards
  • Identify training needs and support professional growth of team members
  • Collaborate with leadership on hiring, onboarding, and team structure

Case Strategy & Settlement Oversight

  • Review and approve demand packages prior to submission
  • Provide guidance on settlement negotiations and resolution strategy
  • Participate in high-level negotiations with insurance carriers when needed
  • Ensure cases are prepared for seamless transition to litigation when necessary

Operations, Metrics & Process Improvement

  • Track and analyze pre-litigation metrics (cycle time, settlement values, conversion rates, client satisfaction)
  • Implement and refine SOPs, workflows, and best practices
  • Partner with Operations and Firm Leadership to improve efficiency and outcomes
  • Ensure accurate data entry and reporting across case management systems

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with Litigation, Intake, and Operations teams
  • Ensure smooth handoffs between departments
  • Align pre-litigation practices with firm-wide goals and standards

Requirements

  • Active California Bar license in good standing
  • 5+ years of personal injury experience, including pre-litigation matters
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or management experience strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of PI law, insurance coverage, liability, and damages
  • Proven ability to evaluate case value and settlement strategy
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage teams, workflows, and competing priorities
  • Experience with PI case management software preferred
